A 30-year-old man was placed on $50,000 bail yesterday after he appeared before Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on a charge of larceny by bailee.

Kelston Adams of 118 Parade Street, Kingston allegedly stole one gold chain valued $350,000, the property of Ivan Hill. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith, Hill was involved in an accident and entrusted the chain to Adams for safekeeping when he was about to be taken to the hospital. When he asked Adams for the chain after his treatment, he never got it.

The matter was transferred to Court Four and will continue on May 6.
