A miner was shot in his right leg during a robbery at his Canterbury Walk, Beter-   verwagting, East Coast Demerara home on Sunday night by bandits, who then escaped.

Police in a press release stated that they are investigating an armed robbery committed on miner Paul Moore at his home by two masked men armed with a handgun and a knife during which he was shot and injured.

The police said investigations revealed that Moore and his wife were awakened by noise in their home and on checking were confronted by the two bandits who had broken into the home through a window.

The bandits held them up, along with three other relatives, and took away a laptop computer and two cell phones.

As the two men were leaving the house, the man with the firearm discharged a round at Moore hitting him in his right leg. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment.

A magazine with 12 9mm rounds was recovered at the scene by the police, the statement said.
