The Varqa Foundation’s ‘On the Wings of Words’ programme will be hosting a ‘Men Only’ literacy training workshop on May 17.

“This training is targeting all grandfathers, fathers, sons, brothers and uncles and only males would be allowed to attend!” the Foundation said in a press release. It said it hosts literacy training workshops every three weeks and has noted that women account for 98% of the sessions. In the light of this, the Foundation has conceptualised this session “to encourage the male population to learn how to improve the literacy skills of children and youth,” the release said.

The session is funded by the Guyana Book Foundation with support from the Canadian Organisation for Development through Education. It will be held at School of the Nation on Parade Street from 1pm to 5pm. Varqa Foundation said the public can call Rosheni or Lall at telephone number 227-7824 for more information.
