Farmer shot in Croal St robbery

Police are investigating a robbery along Croal Street yesterday in which a man was shot in the right foot after trying to prevent the attacker from snatching his brother’s chain.

According to a press release, at around 2.40 pm, Arnold Ragnauth, 46, a farmer of Lesbeholden, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, was shot in his right foot during a robbery attack on his brother Jerold Ragnauth at Croal Street, Stabroek.

“Investigations revealed that Arnold Ragnauth along with his brother Jerold Ragnauth and a friend were walking along Croal Street when a man snatched a gold chain from Jerold. Arnold Ragnauth held on to the chain and a struggle ensued between him and the bandit who pulled out a gun and shot him in his foot and escaped,” the release said.

Police said that Ragnauth was taken to a private hospital where he was treated and sent away.
