Man tried to pull items through roof hole

A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to commit a felony at a Regent Street store.

Raymond Marks of 75 Duncan Street, Kitty told Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle that he was not stealing any items from the Century Mart store on Regent Street but was going to ‘take’ some copper wire that is on the building. Police prosecutor Sherwin Mathews said that the accused was seen by a security guard on the roof of the store trying to pull items through a hole. An alarm was raised, the police were called and Marks was arrested and charged at the Alberttown Police station. …..
