Cops probing Friendship fire death

Police are conducting investigations into a fire of unknown origin which completely destroyed a wooden building at Friendship, East Coast Demerara, leaving the charred remains of retired headmistress Dolly Trim on Sunday night.

The fire occurred on Sunday night shortly after 9 and the remains of the woman who lived alone was found among the debris. Police have said that investigations so far have revealed that efforts by neighbours who formed a bucket brigade and the Guyana Fire Service along with a water tender from GUYSUCO failed to extinguish the fire in time. Investigations are continuing.
