Principal Magistrate Krishndat Persaud committed a Corentyne man charged with discharging a loaded firearm at his reputed wife, to stand trial at the next sitting of the High Court in New Amsterdam (NA).
Krishna `Kumar’ Teekdharry, 30, of Number 68 Village, Corentyne, is charged with discharging the firearm with intent on Rupattie Tejnarine on December 31, 2004 at Number 67 Village. He was released on $200,000 bail when he appeared to answer to the charges at the Springlands Court on Wednesday.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Michael Grant told the court that Tejnarine was attending an “Old Year’s Night party” at a friend’s house when Teekdharry shot her with an improvised shotgun. She sustained injuries to her lower back and was taken to the Skeldon Hospital in an unconscious state. Tejnarine was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital. …..
