Chintamani new Georgetown Chamber President

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) elected its new Council for 2008/2009 at its 118th annual general meeting (AGM) and this body later chose Chandradat Chintamani as its new President.

According to a press release GCCI immediate past President, Colonel (ret’d) Carl Morgan said the Chamber’s long history places tremendous responsibility on it to represent business and commerce in Georgetown. He said too the Chamber suffered the shocks of nationalization, denationalization and the accompanying economic and political shocks  and the fact that it survived is testimony to the will and determination of its executives, councils and members.

At the same time, Morgan lamented members’ failure to take advantage of the opportunity the Chamber provides them since some are only seen when they are faced with challenges. In closing, he said he would not be seeking re-election due to ill-health and he urged the new Council to continue the Chamber’s work including the five-year strategic plan, the code of conduct and the business ‘who is who’ magazine. …..
