Woman on Canada flight pronounced dead at airport

An 89-year-old woman, returning to Guyana from Canada was pronounced dead at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri shortly before midnight on Saturday.
Mabola Jones, whose local address was given as 293 Rosignol Village, West Coast Berbice and who lived in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, was pronounced dead at the airport by Guyana Defence Force (GDF) medical personnel at approximately 11:37 pm on Saturday night.

Jones along with her daughter, Veronica, were incoming passengers on Caribbean Airlines flight, BW 483 from Canada. According to reports, at about 10:30 pm, Veronica observed that her mother was motionless and could not be aroused. At the CJIA, GDF medical personnel, stationed nearby were summoned and the elderly woman was pronounced dead.

Ranks from the police outpost at Timehri also visited the scene and saw the body, which was then transported to Georgetown. The body is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
