Cyclist, 75, killed by minibus on Corentyne

A 75-year-old pedal cyclist died after he was struck down by a minibus on the Corentyne public road around 8.40 am yesterday.

According to reports, minibus BKK 7312 was headed up the Williamsburg, Corentyne public road and Harrypersaud of Fyrish, Corentyne, was riding in the same direction. Harrypersaud reportedly served into the path of the bus as it was about to overtake him. He was struck down and taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he died while receiving medical treatment, a police press release said.

The driver of the minibus is in custody assisting the Berbice police as they continue investigations into the matter.
