Joiner remanded on abduction charge

A 20-year-old joiner was remanded yesterday on a charge of abduction when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Raul Franklin of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the charge of abducting Dennis Layne on the 26th  of July, 2007 at North Cummingsburg with the intention of wrongfully confining him.
Franklin who is on remand for simple larceny and robbery under arms told the magistrate that he was in prison when this offence allegedly occurred. 

He has been charged jointly with Jeffrey Weekes who was not in court yesterday.
Franklin was remanded until June 18 when Weekes is expected to come to court.
