Barama has advertised for 168 positions at its Buck Hall operations to work in the company’s new sawmill being built in a US$10M investment to add value to logs harvested.

The positions advertised are two sawmill supervisors, two office clerks, four foremen, three forklift operators, one loader operator, two chainsaw operators, four checkers, two scalers, two assistant saw doctors, 24 trainee operators for bandsaw, 120 general labourers and two general maintenance workers.

According to Barama CEO Peter Ho, the company is soon to open its new sawmill at Buck Hall in the Essequibo River.

He said that the new facility is under construction and once the weather holds, the company should be ready to commission it around July. He said too that additional facilities are being constructed to offer comfortable housing for the new employees. Ho said that the company is focusing on value-added processing since log export is too costly to the company and the country alike.

Interviews for the positions will be done at the Anna Regina Regional Democratic Council (RDC) office on Thursday.
