Security MOU signed for Timehri airport

An Inter-Agency Committee established last December signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) yesterday to strengthen cooperation between agencies to effectively deal with trafficking in illegal substances at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.

The agencies comprise the Guyana Police Force, the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit, the Guyana Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the CJIA, a Government Information Agency release said.
The agencies are to meet once every month to share intelligence on strategies that will see to the smooth and effective running of the CJIA.

Commissioner of Police (ag) Henry Greene said that the agreement cements the already existing relationship between the said agencies in their efforts to interdict persons who are involved in criminal activities at the CJIA, the release said.
