Zeelugt family robbed by gunmen

A 40-year-old minibus driver and his family were yesterday robbed of cash and jewellery at their Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo home by bandits carrying handguns.

At about 1 am yesterday bandits broke into the home of Kevin Seebarran and took off with jewellery, documents, an undisclosed sum of cash and a cellular phone. According to a police press release, Seebarran, his wife and his parents who are visiting from overseas, were all asleep when the bandits broke into the house, gaining entry via a louvre window. The men held them at gunpoint while they gathered the items and then made good their escape. Both Seebarran and his father were struck about their bodies by the bandits during the incident.

Police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
