Aurora labourer killed

A 20-year-old man died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday morning after being struck on the head with a piece of wood allegedly by his brother-in-law, who has since been detained by police.

Dead is Eric Murray of Aurora, Essequibo Coast. Police, in a statement, said that the incident occurred at around 2 pm on Tuesday. Investigations revealed that Murray and the suspect, who is his sister’s reputed husband, had a misunderstanding, during which Murray was allegedly struck on his head with a piece of wood. He was examined in the area and subsequently taken to the GPH, where he died yesterday morning.

The suspect has been arrested and is in custody assisting with investigations, the police said.
