DDL wins rum award

Demerara Distillers Limited’s (DDL) 15-Year-Old El Dorado won the Best Rum trophy at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) held in London recently.

The El Dorado 12, 15 and 21 year old rums also won the gold medal in their respective categories at the competition. This was revealed by company officials at a press conference at DDL’s Diamond, East Bank Demerara location on Thursday. Chairman of the company, Yesu Persaud said that this showed that “our products are absolutely outstanding”. He noted that it was the 10th year in a row that the 15 Year Old rum had come out on top.  Apart from the gold medal in its category, the 15 Year Old won the Best Rum Trophy.

The IWSC is a key international competition and is held in London annually.
