Police have no report on piracy attack

The police say that they have no reports of recent piracy in the Corentyne as was reported in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek under the caption “Pirates rob two more fishing boats at Corentyne.”

According to a press release last evening, there is no record of any reports being made of such a robbery at any police station. The release further stated that the police are requesting that the person quoted in the news item, Omeshchand Dineschan come forward with the information so that investigations can be conducted.

It stated also that the last line of the story which says that “the police were alerted and a patrol has gone out in search of the boat” (that was used to carry out the attack) is inaccurate.
