Man held with suspected cocaine at airport

A 59-year-old man is in police custody pending investigations after a white substance suspected to be cocaine was found in his luggage yesterday morning at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

According to a source, the man, a Guyanese based in Brooklyn, New York, was booked on outgoing Delta Flight 9881 to New York. Upon checking his luggage, a white substance which appeared to be cocaine was found at the side of his suitcase.

He was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary. Investigations are continuing in the matter.
