Man gets four years for cocaine at airport

The 59-year-old man who was caught trafficking in cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri was sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $3.743M with an alternative of six months imprisonment when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday.

Percival Ross was charged for trafficking in 3 kilogrammes, 863 grammes of cocaine. According to a source, Ross, a Guyanese based in Brooklyn, New York, was booked on an outgoing Delta Flight 9881 to New York.

Upon checking his luggage, the cocaine was found at the side of his suitcase.

He was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary.
