A 48-year-old man, who allegedly had carnal knowledge of a disabled woman, was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

George SinghGeorge Singh of Lot 65 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty was not required to plead to the charge when Principal Magi-strate Melissa Robertson-Ogle read it to him.

It is alleged that on July 4 in Georgetown Singh had carnal knowledge of the mentally disabled woman knowing that she was mentally incapacitated.

Singh, the prosecution said, is a close friend of the virtual complainant’s (VC) stepfather and requested that bail be refused based on the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood of the accused interfering with the VC.

The man was refused bail and the matter continues on July 18 in Court Five.
