Two men, who allegedly broke and entered an apartment building and carted off almost $600,000 in booty, were both remanded to prison when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Richard Nicholson and Royston Hodge were not required to plead to the indictable charge of break and enter and larceny. Hodge, who was also accused of unlawful possession of narcotics, pleaded not guilty when that charge was read to him.

It is alleged that between July 8 and 11 the men broke and entered the apartment building of Alan Major and stole a quantity of household items and furniture, together worth $594,200. Further, it is alleged that on July 9 Hodge had in his possession 8 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The prosecution objected to bail in both the larceny and possession of narcotics matters and requested that the men be remanded and a date set for report and trial, respectively.

Nicholson and Hodge were refused bail and their matter will continue on July 24 in Court One. Hodge was also refused bail on his possession of narcotics charge and that  matter is to continue on November 3 before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
