Special constable stabbed in NA row

A special constable, who intervened in an argument between his brother and a taxi-driver, is a patient of the New Amsterdam Hospital after being stabbed in the chest during the dispute.

Special Constable 11709 Scipio was admitted to the medical institution with stab wounds to the chest after the incident which occurred twenty minutes after midnight at Main and Pitt streets, New Amsterdam yesterday. The taxi-driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Police, in a press release stated that investigations revealed that Scipio’s brother was involved in an argument with a taxi-driver over an allegation that he had struck the vehicle while riding his bicycle. Police said it is alleged that Scipio, who was in civilian clothing at the time, intervened in the matter and was stabbed in his chest by the hire-car driver.

He was taken to the New Amsterdam hospital where he was admitted. The alleged assailant was arrested and the knife that was allegedly used in the incident was also recovered by the police.
