$450,000 bail for death by dangerous driving, no licence charges

Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday granted $450,000 bail to a 30-year-old carpenter charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a licence.

The Georgetown Magistrate’s Court heard that Lakeram Ramcharitar, of 128 Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, on February 24 caused the death of Sabrina Robinson on the Friendship Public road by driving motor car PKK 8397 in a manner dangerous to the public. It is also alleged that on the said day the accused was driving the said vehicle without being the holder of a valid driver’s licence. Ramcharitar was placed on $400,000 bail on for the first charge and $50,000 for driving without licence. He was ordered to appear at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on September 18.
