Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Tuesday remanded to prison an 18-year-old man accused of having carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 12.

Colin Augustine of Waramadong Village, Upper Mazaruni River was not required to plead to the charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The incident allegedly occurred on October 13, 2007 at the said village.
When the magistrate asked Augustine if he had anything to say in his defence he said no. The prosecutor asked that bail be refused based on the grounds that the accused might not return for his trial and that he may interfere with the girl.

Augustine was ordered to appear at the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court on September 15.
