$75.3M arms and ammo for army

Cabinet has given the go-ahead to contracts including $75.3 million for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the Guyana Defence Force and $24.6 million for the purchasing of forensic equipment for the Guyana Police Force.

In addition a contract in the sum of $5.7 million was cleared for the rehabilitation of the narcotics and fingerprint building at Eve Leary.

At his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President yesterday Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon said that Cabinet also cleared the sum of $153.1 million for the construction of a drainage sluice at De Willem, West Coast Demerara.

The sum of $72.3 million was given the green light for the construction of scour protection for the outfall cannel at Le Union, Essequibo Coast.

For the education sector the sum of $18.1 million was cleared for the rehabilitation of the Cyril Potter College of Education and for the acquisition of learning materials for the education sector US$151,900 was given the no-objection.

The sum of US$99,260 was green-lighted for a consultant and creation and implementation of a disaster recovery system.

For the procurement of galvanized pipes for the Guyana Water Inc, the sum of $40.7 million was also given the go ahead.
