A MMC official told Stabroek News yesterday that based on the investigations carried out by officers and statements taken from everyone present at the Happy Acres Headquarters on Wednesday evening, the incident can be ruled a suicide.

Stabroek News learnt that investigating ranks collected a list of all MMC officers who had signed for guns on Wednesday night’s shift and checked each weapon. Only the gun that was signed for by Thomas was fired – once.

Meanwhile, Thomas’ family is still reeling from the shock of the young man’s sudden death. A relative told Stabroek News yesterday afternoon that Thomas’s mother Carla Hosannah is still in deep shock.

Thomas leaves to mourn his mother, sister, his father and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed today.
