The discovery was made by Robin David who was cleaning the drain outside his home around 7 am.

When Stabroek News visited the area, residents expressed their shock and profound sadness at the find and pointed out that the foetus should never have been disposed of in such a “nasty” manner.

Residents were adamant that the foetus which they believe was the victim of an unwanted pregnancy did not belong to anyone from the area.

A resident said that as David was cleaning his drain with a spade he saw hands, feet and a head and realized it was a foetus.

“After he see this thing he start calling out people and everybody come to see” the woman said adding that the police later arrived after being called.

Prior to the police’s arrival, the foetus was removed from the drain and placed on a nearby board. According to the resident, water was then thrown on it and it was discovered that it was a male with the afterbirth still attached.

The woman opined that the foetus could not have been there long as David cleans his gutter every day.

“People were shocked. Everybody talk up. For me I feel sad and real bad that somebody could do something like that”, the woman said.

After conducting their investigations, the police left the area with the foetus.
