A two-storey house in the Best Squatting Area, West Coast Demerara was destroyed by a fire yesterday which is suspected to have been started by children who were playing with matches.

Bisnauth Singh, the owner of the house, was asleep while his three grandchildren were playing in the building. According to a police press release, Singh awakened to the smell of smoke. The Fire Service was unable to save the house which was completely destroyed by the fire at about 3 pm yesterday. The release said that no one was injured.
