Government on Thursday revealed that it is receiving foreign assistance to track down and capture wanted man Rondell `Fineman’ Rawlins but would say nothing else about it publicly.

President Bharrat Jagdeo made the disclosure at a press conference at the Office of the President but was tightlipped on the nature of the assistance and its origin.

He told the media that “We have been receiving foreign help that we cannot speak about in the public”, he said adding that there are a few other cases where help was requested and none was received. He made specific reference to the Lindo Creek forensic assistance that was needed. That request had been made to the US but was turned down. Help was later received from the Caribbean.

“Yes, we have received foreign help and I don’t wish to speak about what the nature of that help is at this point in time. But it (the search for `Fineman’) still remains a priority. As you know there is a huge reward out on this criminal’s head”, he stressed.

Rawlins who is said to be the leader of the notorious Buxton gang has been in the news for several years now with his name being linked to several high profile killings including those of former Minister of Agriculture, Satyadeow Sawh, his security guard and siblings and the Lusignan, Bartica and Lindo Creek massacres. The latter three attacks resulted in 31 deaths.
