Policeman accidentally shot in barrack room

A police constable is nursing a gunshot wound to his shoulder after he was accidentally shot while “joking and chatting” with a colleague on Saturday night in the barrack room at Timehri, a release from the police said yesterday.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, police officer Raymond Larson arrived at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) at around 10 pm on Saturday and was admitted. Reports are that the bullet entered his left shoulder and exited through his back. He is now a patient in the High Dependency Unit of the hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The officer was taken to the hospital by Assistant Superintendent Hickins and the police in their release said that they are investigating the incident.
