It was not the day for seeing Tacuma worms being harvested and eaten nor was it the day for observing the making of a canoe.

As had happened in the past few days, a number of Carifesta events did not come off and no-one seemed to know why. The harvesting of the Tacuma worm and the bursting and tasting of the said organism was to have taken place at the Amerindian Village in the Sophia Exhibition Complex while a canoe-making demonstration was also scheduled. It did not happen. Reports at the Amerindian Village yesterday were that the tree with the Tacuma worms had fallen into a river and a new tree was being sought. There was no word on the canoe.

At the Grand Market at the Sophia Exhibition Complex during the day yesterday, a few booths remained unoccupied. 

An Intellectual Rights forum was scheduled for 10 am at the Hospitality Village on Carifesta Avenue but after 11 am, no-one had arrived and the few persons from a delegation left but not before commenting that everything seemed to be cancelled, postponed or there were no-shows. A call to the Carifesta Secretariat garnered information that if no-one was there at the time, the event was “probably cancelled”.
