The items were handed over to GPSU president Patrick Yarde by Canadian High Commissioner Charles Court on behalf of the Canadian government.

High Commissioner Court said that the donation is part of an ongoing effort by the Canadian government to assist in whatever way it can in Guyana and to promote improvement in the public service union which serves the general public.

In responding, Yarde said that the GPSU is grateful for the items and also appreciates that the Canadian government not only recognized but addressed the union’s needs at a critical time, thereby enhancing the GPSU’s role as a major stakeholder in nation building.
