Prison officer found with ganja

A Mazaruni Prisons warder is in police custody after a quantity of cannabis was found in his possession on Thursday.

A police press release said that a search conducted on the officer’s person around 11:40 am on Thursday unearthed 39 grammes of cannabis sativa.

Meanwhile police also said yesterday that two persons are in custody after a quantity of cannabis was found in a home at First Avenue, Bartica.

According to a release, acting on information received, ranks from the Bartica Police Station about 1.30 pm yesterday conducted a search of a house on First Avenue and seized 402 ½ grammes of cannabis sativa.
Investigations into both cases are continuing.
