Essequibo widow believed strangled

A 53-year-old widow was discovered dead in her La Resource, Essequibo Coast home yesterday afternoon by a neighbour.

Nasisah Hakh was discovered on the floor of her home at approximately 5 pm yesterday by a neighbour who went over to visit her. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are sketchy. However, this newspaper understands that the woman appeared to have been strangled. Hakh, a mother of one, was a widow for the past two years and lived alone.

The police were still on the scene last night. The woman’s family said that  a post-mortem examination may be done on the body today.
