A man is dead and three others missing after a motor-powered boat and a canoe collided in the Essequibo River just off Kurupukari early yesterday morning.

Police said in release that the body of Lionel Williams, 40, of Rupununi was fished out of the river but three other persons were still missing.

The river mishap occurred around 00:05 hrs.

Police ranks in the Sub Division have since been dispatched to the area to conduct investigations.
