THAG appoints executive director

The Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) has appointed Treina Fiona Butts its Executive Director/Company Secretary.

In a press release, Public Communications Consultants Limited said Butts assumed duties with THAG on August 4. She holds a BA in Eco Tourism/Tourism Studies from the University of Guyana and has had extensive professional experience and training in the field.

Butts joins THAG after having served at the Guyana Tourism Authority for just under five years as Marketing and then Senior Marketing Officer.

She has represented Guyana at numerous international tourism trade shows including the Amazon Tourism Trade Fair in Brazil, Go-Invest Trade Show in Trinidad, Rediscover Caribbean in Barbados and at the World Travel Market in London in November.

The release said Butts has also volunteered at the Guyana Red Cross Society, Ecovision and Youth Challenge International.
