Relative held in Essequibo widow’s death

The Essequibo widow, who was believed to have been strangled on Sunday was laid to rest yesterday while police on Monday detained a male relative to assist with investigations.

Fifty-three-year-old widow, Nasisah Hakh was discovered on the floor of her La Resource, Essequibo Coast home at 5 pm on Sunday by a neighbour who went over to visit her. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Stabroek News was told that the woman appeared to have been strangled. Hakh, a mother of one, was a widow for the past two years and lived alone. She was laid to rest in Muslim rites yesterday while on Monday, police took a male relative into custody to assist with investigations.
