A 35-year-old man who allegedly forged two US$100 notes was remanded to prison when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Robert Henry of Sixth Avenue Bartica, Essequibo pleaded guilty to the charge of forgery but requested that the court allow him to explain. Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle entered a not-guilty plea on the man’s behalf after listening to his explanation.

It is alleged that between May 1 and 31 Henry with intent to defraud uttered two forged US$100 notes to Diana Bowen.

According to the prosecution, Henry provided the police with French Guiana and Wales, West Bank Demerara addresses but gave a Bartica address to the court.

The magistrate refused the accused bail and the matter is to continue on September 12.
