Bandits escape with more than $9M from cambio

Bandits carted off over $9M in local and foreign currency and a number of valuables after the disabling the alarm and breaking into Mohammed’s Cambio some time over the weekend.
In a press release police said the proprietors discovered that they had been robbed when they opened their Regent and Hinck streets business yesterday morning. After disabling the alarm, the thieves also torched an iron safe and absconded with 15 World Cup silver coins, six silver Carifesta coins and eight sets of Carifesta stamps.

Police also said the robbery occurred some time between 4.30 pm on Saturday and 7 am yesterday. Investigations are continuing.
