Man, 38, remanded over sodomy of child

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday refused bail to a 38-year-old man who allegedly buggered a child.

Rudy Morgan of 47 Hadfield Street, Lodge was not required to plead to the charge of buggery when it was read to him.

It is alleged that on August 7 in Georgetown the man buggered a male child.

According to reports, on the day in question the child was playing with a group of children and later switched to another group when the accused allegedly led the child away.

After the incident, the child went to a nearby health facility and asked to use the washroom. The nurses noticed that the child was taking some time in the washroom and went to investigate. They suspected what had happened and the child was immediately taken to a doctor who confirmed this. Morgan was subsequently arrested.

Morgan refused to say anything when offered the opportunity by the magistrate. He was remanded to prison and the matter is due for report on September 16.
