A 32-year-old man who allegedly broke and entered the dwelling houses of two women and stole $240,000 in items was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Roger Samuel of 25 Norton Street, Lodge pleaded not guilty to two charges of break and enter and larceny when they were read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

It is alleged that on August 29 and September 4, the accused broke and entered the dwelling houses of Vanessa Wills and Sharon Bailey, respectively, stealing $85,000 and $155,200 in electronic equipment, cash and household items.

According to the prosecution, Bailey’s neighbours caught the accused with the articles in his possession. However, Samuel denied this.
Magistrate Ogle transferred the matter to Court Two for September 15. The man was refused bail.
