Extra duty rate hike for police officers

The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved an increase in the hourly rates for extra duty work by members of the Guyana Police Force.

According to a press release the rates have been implemented from September 1. The increases will be applied to two categories: under Explosives and Minerals officers will see an increase from $600 to $1,000; chief inspector /inspector from $475 to $900; station sergeant/sergeant from $400 to $670; corporal/lance corporal from $375 to $625 and constable from $300 to $500.

In the category Enter-tainment (Any form and/or Cash escorts): officers will be given an increase from $450 to $750; chief inspector/inspector from $350 to $585; station sergeant/ser-geant from $300 to $500; corporal/lance corporal from $275 to $450 and constable from $240 to $400, the release said.
