Biker suffers fractured skull after struck by car

A Triumph young man who was knocked off his motorcycle by a driver, who was suspected to have been drunk, suffered a fractured skull and has been a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital since Saturday night.

Chetram Mohan, 20, was riding along Agriculture Road, East Coast Demerara and was about to turn on to Block CC when a car slammed into him pitching him off his motorcycle, his mother Zorina Mohammed said.

According to Mohammed, her son told her that the accident occurred at approximately 5.30 pm on Saturday. Mohan was on his way home when the car slammed into him.

Mohan’s mother told this newspaper that she learnt from people around the area that after the car slammed into her son’s bike “he flew up into the air and landed on his head.”

The impact was so severe, she explained, that Mohan’s helmet was split in two.

The young man’s skull was cracked, his mother said, and the area around his right eye heavily bruised. Although Mohan was in much pain, he appeared to be in a stable condition.
