Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Thursday remanded to prison a 47-year-old mason accused of indecently assaulting a four-year-old girl.
Sahadeo Singh of 194 Barr Street, Kitty, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on September 3, at his place of employment, Singh took the child into the backyard, pulled down her underwear and laid on top of her. The child’s aunt witnessed the incident and reported it at a police station. Singh was subsequently arrested and charged.
The prosecution objected to bail.
Singh said he was not aware of the allegations made against him.
He was ordered to return to court on September 18.
