The opening of a new Royal Castle outlet is evidence that investors are interested in investing here, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad said at the opening of the outlet on Monday.

According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), the minister said that he feels good that business people are investing in this country because they see opportunities here. He said that this is good for the tourism sector since tourists are ‘brand conscious” and the Royal Castle brand is a well known one in the Caribbean.

The new outlet for the Trinidad-based company is located at Hinck Street; a stone’s throw from  the Berbice bus park. The outlet is a $50M investment and currently employs 25 persons.

Director of the local franchise Eddie Boyer said that more outlets are to be opened in other locations across the country.

He said that the franchise should have grown faster but was hampered by the fire in 2003 that wiped out its Hadfield Street outlet.

Meanwhile customers will receive discounts on popular meals during the first week of opening.

Royal Castle started operations in 1999 and has two other outlets – one on Sheriff Street and the other in the City Mall on Regent Street.
