Dear Editor,

For some two years the Jailing Timber Company has been operating in the Matakai sub-region (Region One). There are, however, foreign mining companies there such as the Sacre-Coeur Mining Co, Strata Mining Co, Guyana Shield and others. These mining companies have Guyanese in their employment from office administrators and all categories of office personnel to field workers.

I ask why the Jailing Timber Company is doing as they please and bringing their own nationals to perform duties that Guyanese could do? I also ask whether a Guyanese company could go to their country and do as they are doing here.

Yours faithfully,
I Roberts
