‘Brother’ hospitalized after robbery attack

A 43-year-old man was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital on Friday night after two men attacked and robbed him, after forcing their way into his home.

The man who only gave his nickname ‘Brother’ said he arrived at his Bare Root home at approximately 7.20 pm on Friday. “I don’t have electricity so I lef’ my door half open so I can see to light the lamp,” ‘Brother’ said. “Next thing I know a man push he head through the door,” Brother recounted, “I shout out ‘who is da?’ but before I coulda do anything else I get a lash in me head.”

The left side of his forehead was bandaged and he said that he was hit on his arms as well.
‘Brother’ said he started to fight but he couldn’t match the two men. The bandits carted off his money, cellular phone and other valuable items. Further, he said, they stole his brush cutter. “That it how I make my living,” a distressed ‘Brother’ told Stabroek News.

According to ‘Brother’, the police are yet to take a statement from him and two men are supposed to be taken into police custody for questioning.
