Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Wednesday  at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court ordered that a man who allegedly attempted to murder another be remanded to prison.

Roy Goodcharan, 29, of Port Kaituma who is charged with the attempted murder of Samuel Atkinson was not required to plead to  the indictable charge.

It is alleged that on September 21, at Temapun backdam, Essequibo, Goodcharan attempted to murder Atkinson.

The prosecution objected to the bail application made by Goodcharan’s lawyer on the grounds that Atkinson is at present in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, nursing wounds that he sustained as a result of the attack.

Magistrate Robertson subsequently refused Goodcharan’s bail application and ordered him to return to court on October 30.
