Girl burnt at Tacama

-ferried by army to city
A six-year-old girl of Tacama Waterfront on the Berbice River was admitted to the Georgetown Hospital yesterday after she sustained severe burns to her upper body.

She was transported to Georgetown via an army helicopter.
A Guyana Defence Force press release said Shonnella King was lighting a fire to roast corn when the fire flared up and engulfed her upper body.

The army base at Tacama rapidly assisted by providing Medivac services. The child was then flown to Camp Ayanganna by a GDF mercy flight and taken to the GPHC by an army ambulance.

The release said further that officers and ranks of the GDF are “prayerful” that King will respond positively to the treatment she receives.
