Body of destitute woman found

The lifeless body of a destitute woman was yesterday morning discovered in an area opposite the Brickdam Cathedral with a wound to the back of her head.

Up to press time the woman had not been identified and her remains are lying at the Lyken’s Funeral home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Reports reaching Stabroek News are that the body was discovered by someone passing the area sometime before eight yesterday morning. The woman was first seen in the area several months ago when she set up home on the pavement opposite New Thriving Restaurant on Camp Street.

She is said to have recently relocated to an area opposite the Brickdam Cathedral.

Investigations are continuing.
